Car shipping cost
Most customers pay between $280 and $1,600. Distance is the biggest factor — cost per mile drops as the trip gets longer.
| Distance | Open transport | Enclosed transport | Transit time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 500 miles | $280 – $500 | $360 – $670 | 1 – 3 days |
| 500 – 1,000 miles | $550 – $800 | $700 – $1,055 | 2 – 4 days |
| 1,000 – 1,500 miles | $770 – $1,030 | $1,055 – $1,390 | 3 – 6 days |
| 1,500 – 2,000 miles | $1,030 – $1,200 | $1,390 – $1,680 | 4 – 7 days |
| 2,000+ miles (coast to coast) | $1,300 – $1,595 | $1,850 – $2,270 | 5 – 10 days |
Ranges assume Standard service for an operable sedan on open transport. SUVs, trucks, inoperable vehicles, and enclosed transport cost more.

A low quote looks attractive, but the right price is the one that actually gets your vehicle picked up on time by a reliable carrier. Auto transport pricing follows real market conditions on your lane.
Carrier verification
Before any carrier is assigned to your shipment, it passes this process and receives a Bigfella Trust Score. You see the score, the USDOT number, and the MC number before dispatch.
Every carrier must hold an active USDOT number and MC operating authority with the FMCSA. Revoked or suspended authority is an automatic disqualification, with no exceptions.
We confirm current cargo insurance meeting our $150,000 minimum directly, rather than taking the carrier's word for it. A lapsed policy removes a carrier from our network immediately.
We check FMCSA safety ratings and inspection history. For carriers we have used before, we track on-time rates, cancellations, and customer complaints.
We confirm the carrier's equipment matches your shipment — open or enclosed, multi-car, winch-equipped for inoperable vehicles — so there are no surprises at pickup.
| Score | What it means |
|---|---|
| 90–100 | Excellent — strong track record, fully verified |
| 75–89 | Good — fully verified, solid history |
| 60–74 | Acceptable — verified, more limited history |
| Below 60 | Not assigned — held for review or excluded |
Pricing
Your estimate depends on the route, the vehicle, open or enclosed transport, when you need pickup, and the service level you choose.
Busy interstate lanes usually cost less per mile than rural pickups, because those corridors stay full and predictable.
A lifted truck or three-row SUV takes more space than a compact sedan, so it prices higher on the same route.
Enclosed trailers carry fewer cars and cost more to operate, so enclosed shipping prices higher than open transport.
A later first-available date can price lower than an urgent pickup. Express and White Glove cost more for faster coverage.
A vehicle that does not run needs a winch and extra handling, so it costs more and fewer trucks can take the load.
Standard is the lowest price. Express is faster coverage. White Glove is the highest-priority option with dedicated support.

Our story
Bigfella Auto Express was built on a simple belief: shipping a vehicle should be simple, transparent, and stress-free.
We are based in Houston, Texas, one of the largest transportation hubs in the country. That location gives us direct access to the I-10, I-45, and I-69 corridors, which helps us connect customers with reliable carriers nationwide at competitive prices.
The company was founded by an entrepreneur whose businesses have been featured by outlets including TMZ, Black Enterprise, and LA Weekly. That same mindset drives our approach to auto transport: technology, transparency, and customer-focused service in an industry that has traditionally been complicated.
Today we help individuals, families, military members, dealerships, collectors, and businesses move vehicles across the United States — with dependable carriers and support from pickup through delivery.
